Brig.-Gen. (res.) Dedi Simchi, a former senior official in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Home Front Command, remarked on a recent Iranian attack on Israel, stating he was not surprised by the aggression due to Iran's challenging situation. Speaking on 103FM, he expressed concern over the internal Israeli discourse questioning the rationale behind military strikes on Hezbollah in Dahiyeh. Simchi argued that such actions are essential for the protection of Israeli citizens, particularly those in the North. He criticized the notion that retaliating against Hezbollah would provoke further Iranian attacks, asserting that all Israeli citizens deserve protection. Simchi explained that Iran's previous restraint was part of a broader strategy, preparing for a significant offensive against Israel. He emphasized that Iran's military actions serve to demonstrate their ongoing influence and power, particularly in negotiations with the United States. Simchi concluded that addressing the Iranian threat will necessitate a considerable investment of time and resources, alongside enduring painful costs.
