On Monday, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed several crucial highway projects aimed at enhancing connectivity in Maharashtra, India. The proposed projects include the six-laning of the Nagpur–Bhandara section and the Nagpur–Hyderabad corridor, among others. The review also covered nine state build-operate-transfer projects totaling 527 km on National Highway stretches. The focus is on accelerating planning and execution to boost economic development in the region. Over the past 11 years, India's road network has become the second-largest globally, expanding from 91,287 km in 2014 to an expected 1,46,560 km by 2025. The government has constructed 57,125 km of national highways in the last five years, generating an average of 33 crore person-days of employment annually.
