IndiGo has announced the launch of direct flights between Chennai, India, and Réunion Island, effective April 29, 2026. This marks the first time an Indian airline has provided non-stop service to this French overseas territory located in the Indian Ocean. The airline will operate the route three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using Airbus A320 aircraft. The flights will depart Chennai at 12:20 PM and arrive in Réunion Island at 5:10 PM, with return flights scheduled to leave at 6:00 PM and arrive in Chennai at 2:10 AM the following day. The new route is expected to cater to the island's substantial Indian-origin population of about 300,000, which constitutes over a third of Réunion's total population. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, emphasized that this service will enhance travel options for tourism, business, and family visits, while also supporting the island's growing MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) infrastructure. Passengers are encouraged to book tickets via the IndiGo website or app and to verify visa requirements prior to travel.
