Omar Abdullah (Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir) criticized the BJP-led central government at a public rally in Nowshera, Rajouri district, for not fulfilling its promise of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He pointed out that the government had outlined a three-step process: delimitation, elections, and then statehood. While delimitation has been completed and elections were held in 2024, Abdullah noted that one and a half years have passed without any clear indication of when statehood will be restored. He questioned the BJP's repeated assurances and demanded a transparent roadmap for statehood restoration, asking, 'What does the right time mean?' Abdullah also expressed concern over the BJP's handling of women's reservation in legislatures, suggesting that the delimitation process was manipulated to benefit the party. He vowed that the National Conference would continue to confront the BJP on these issues, emphasizing the need for accountability.
