During a meeting with officials from the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), Manish Tewari, the local MP, emphasized the need for a more humane approach to need-based changes in housing units. He requested a comparative chart detailing how relaxations for these changes have evolved from 2014 to 2026 and the current situation regarding benefits for allottees. This directive follows recent notices issued to 386 homeowners in Sectors 29 and 30 for illegal constructions, alongside demolition drives in Sectors 41 and 45. Tewari also highlighted the pressing issue of water contamination, urging the municipal corporation to conduct a comprehensive water audit across Chandigarh, particularly in relief and rehabilitation colonies, to investigate reports of contamination. The audit is expected to be completed within 45 days. Additionally, Tewari called for a review of vending zones, aiming to close unviable sites and allot new ones.
