Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a special rescue campaign on May 11, aimed at providing immediate assistance to destitute, sick, and helpless individuals across the city. The campaign, which runs until May 15, involves a fleet of 19 rescue ambulances and 10 support vehicles, staffed by nearly 100 personnel and 50 volunteers. The initiative focuses on rescuing homeless individuals living in public spaces, including roads, railway stations, and bus stands. Those rescued will be taken to Apna Ghar Ashram, where they will receive medical support, food, and rehabilitation. The campaign prioritizes individuals suffering from serious illnesses such as tuberculosis, cancer, and AIDS. So far, around 20 individuals have been successfully rescued, with efforts made to reunite them with their families if possible. The initiative is coordinated by the social welfare department in collaboration with organizations like Apna Ghar Ashram and Seva Bharti.
