El Al has announced the resumption of nonstop flights from Tel Aviv to San Francisco, set to begin on October 25, 2024. The flights will operate three times a week and will take approximately 15 hours. This new route is a response to growing demand from the tech community and the Israeli population in the region, according to Shlomi Zafrani, El Al's vice president of commerce and sales. Round-trip tickets in CLASSIC economy class will be priced starting at $1,199, inclusive of baggage and a seat. The introduction of this route is a part of El Al's broader expansion strategy, which has seen the airline announce 11 new destinations globally in recent months, including locations in Asia, Europe, and South America. The airline previously operated flights between Tel Aviv and San Francisco from late 2018 until early 2020, when the service was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. El Al is also in the process of acquiring up to 12 more long-haul 787 Dreamliner aircraft from Boeing to support its growing operations, which will increase the total number of nonstop flights from Israel to various US cities to 45 weekly flights during the upcoming winter season.
