Vijay (popular Tamil actor) and his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), have unveiled a detailed manifesto aimed at transforming Tamil Nadu's socio-economic landscape. The manifesto promises significant financial support, including ₹2,500 monthly for women heads of families and ₹10,000 for unemployed graduates. It also includes a cooperative loan waiver for farmers owning up to five acres, with a minimum support price of ₹3,500 for paddy and ₹4,500 for sugarcane. Vijay emphasized the importance of honest governance, stating that the TVK would not mislead voters with empty promises. Other key proposals include collateral-free loans for students, a monthly unemployment allowance, and a job creation initiative targeting half a million young people. The manifesto also introduces a Citizen Privilege Card for families to access promised government schemes and suggests restoring the Old Pension Scheme for workers. The TVK aims to disrupt the longstanding political dominance of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu.
