In a recent cabinet meeting, the government of Manipur discussed various measures in response to global challenges, as urged by the Prime Minister of India. Key decisions include reducing the size of VIP convoys following a security review, implementing work-from-home policies, and freezing government-funded foreign travel to curb spending. The cabinet also approved the filling of 173 Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) positions in the Family Welfare Department, funded by the Central Government. Furthermore, it decided to relax the age limit by two years for all upcoming state government recruitment notifications. To support infrastructure development, the cabinet approved compensation rates for land acquisition related to the expansion of the Imphal – Jiribam and Imphal – Dimapur National Highways. These decisions aim to expedite project implementation, benefiting the state significantly. Additionally, the cabinet rationalized posts under the Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) to enhance employee promotional opportunities. The cabinet also extended the critical Manipur Water Supply Project funded by the New Development Bank (NDB) and approved the Loktak Experience Project to promote tourism in the region.
