Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGEN) is not only focused on energy production but is also committed to community development. In the past year, MGEN delivered 27,289 gigawatt hours of energy, which has allowed the company to invest in various community initiatives. Notably, MGEN established the Meralco Power Academy (MPA) in the Visayas to enhance technical training for professionals. The firm also completed the P17.3 million La Paz Football Ground project in Iloilo, enabling local youth to train at night. Environmental efforts include planting over 800,000 trees across 256 hectares in Iloilo. Furthermore, MGEN is constructing the P200-billion MTerra Solar project in Luzon, collaborating with local governments to provide livelihood programs for surrounding communities, with 60% of its scholars finding jobs with project contractors. MGEN emphasizes that its role extends beyond energy provision to shaping sustainable communities.
