Dungeons and Dragons fans will soon benefit from a new feature on DnD Beyond called Journals in Maps, aimed at enhancing the gameplay experience. This tool allows Dungeon Masters (DMs) to take real-time notes during sessions, capturing crucial details such as major plot points, NPC secrets, and player decisions. Currently, this feature is exclusive to DMs, who can access it by pressing the “J” key while using maps. The development team has indicated that this is just the beginning, with plans for a collaborative Player Journal that will enable players to contribute to a shared campaign record. Future updates will also introduce editing capabilities for DMs, allowing for more detailed and formatted entries. DnD Beyond aims to maintain transparency and community engagement as they roll out these features, promising to adapt based on user feedback. This new journaling tool is expected to significantly improve how players and DMs track their adventures, moving away from disorganized notes to a cohesive campaign history.
