Vaishali district has emerged as the top performer in the ongoing online self enumeration phase of Census 2027 in Bihar, with over 4.12 lakh submissions recorded as of Saturday. Madhubani followed closely with 3.97 lakh entries, while Khagaria, Gopalganj, and Bhojpur rounded out the top five districts. Despite its urbanization and digital literacy, Patna ranked sixth with more than 1.25 lakh submissions. The self enumeration phase, which began on April 17 and will continue until May 1, has seen a significant increase in participation, with daily averages rising from 32,000 entries on the first day to 3.04 lakh by the eighth day. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary emphasized the importance of public participation for an accurate census. Following this phase, nearly 2.60 lakh enumerators will conduct door-to-door listings from May 2 to May 31. The self enumeration questionnaire includes 33 questions aimed at capturing essential household data to aid in evidence-based policymaking and infrastructure development.
