The Excise Department and Greater Noida police seized Haryana-mark liquor worth ₹35 lakh (approximately $42,000 USD) from a truck during a joint operation on Saturday night. The truck was intercepted near Sharda roundabout in Greater Noida based on a tip-off regarding its illegal cargo. Subodh Shrivastava, the district excise officer for Gautam Budh Nagar, confirmed the seizure of 237 boxes containing various bottle sizes of the liquor. The truck driver, a resident of Barmer in Rajasthan, was arrested, and a case was registered under the Excise Act at the Knowledge Park police station. During the investigation, authorities discovered that the liquor was being transported to Manipur via Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, with a fake auto parts bill intended to mislead tax officials. The investigation continues, as it appears that such operations often involve multiple drivers unaware of the final delivery location.
