Kritika Kamra, known for her work in web series and films, is set to star in 'Matka King', a show inspired by the real-life matka barons of Mumbai, Ratan Khatri and Kalyanji Bhagat. In this series, she plays Gulrukh Dibash, a young Parsi widow who partners with the fictional matka king, Brij Bhatti, portrayed by Vijay Varma. Kritika finds the character fascinating and emphasizes her role in driving the narrative forward, highlighting the ongoing challenge of finding strong female characters in Indian storytelling. She shares her perspective on the importance of taking risks in her career, stating, “Sometimes, it’s about playing the riskier bets.” Despite acknowledging that commercial roles may not come her way often, she expresses satisfaction in working with acclaimed filmmakers like Nagraj Manjule, who directed 'Matka King'.
