The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in Gurugram, Haryana, has identified 12 illegal banquet halls operating without the necessary permissions. This action follows a recent survey ordered by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Amit Madholia, the district town planner, stated that show cause notices will be issued to the owners of these properties. If their responses are deemed unsatisfactory, the DTCP will proceed with demolitions. The illegal banquet halls are located in various villages, including Lohaka, Pahari, and Mahenderwara, with most situated in rural areas adjacent to the city. To legally operate, banquet halls must obtain permissions related to land use, fire safety, health, and other necessary licenses. Additionally, they must be built on a minimum land area of two to five acres and provide adequate parking space. The DTCP has previously demolished another illegal hall in Sidhrawali village and continues to survey the area for further violations.
