IndiGo Airlines announced that it will begin commercial operations from Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, on June 15, making it the first airline to do so. The airline plans to establish a network of over 16 destinations across India, including major cities like Bengaluru and Lucknow, as well as tier-2 and tier-3 cities such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Srinagar. The inaugural flights will include the Lucknow–Noida–Bengaluru route, with flight 6E 2278 departing Lucknow at 7:05 am and arriving in Noida at 8:05 am before heading to Bengaluru. Aloke Singh, IndiGo's chief strategy officer, emphasized that this launch marks a significant expansion in the National Capital Region (NCR), which now has three operational airports: Indira Gandhi International Airport, Hindon Airport, and Noida International Airport. The new airport is part of a larger initiative to improve domestic and international connectivity for the Delhi-NCR region and western Uttar Pradesh, supported by enhanced road and rail infrastructure.
