The Haryana Police, led by IPS Upasana, has launched a significant initiative to protect senior citizens from cyber fraud and scams involving money. This initiative introduces a double OTP verification system, which requires both the account holder, aged 60 years and above, and a trusted contact or family member to provide OTPs for any money transfer. The transfer will only proceed once both OTPs are verified by the bank, effectively preventing unauthorized transactions. Currently, this service is available at HDFC Bank branches in Gurugram and Faridabad. This voluntary system aims to empower senior citizens by providing them with an additional layer of security during banking transactions. IPS Upasana emphasized that this initiative is crucial in safeguarding the financial interests of senior citizens, helping them avoid potential losses from cyber crimes and scams. The introduction of this double OTP system is a proactive measure to ensure that senior citizens can conduct their banking activities with confidence and security.
