A special court in Pune has granted permission for a test identification parade and a medical examination to assess the mental fitness of Bhimrao Prabhakar Kamble, who is accused of the sexual assault and murder of a four-year-old girl in Nasrapur village, Pune district, India. The court has scheduled the framing of charges against Kamble for May 28, 2023. The prosecution has submitted a 1,100-page chargesheet to the district court, detailing the case registered at the Rajgad police station in Bhor taluka. Kamble is currently held in judicial custody at Yerawada central jail, where he appeared before the court via video conference due to security concerns. The court has mandated that both the test identification parade and medical examination be completed before the next hearing. Furthermore, the District Legal Services Authority in Pune has been instructed to appoint a legal aid counsel experienced in session trials to represent Kamble. The court has also agreed to the request for Kamble to be physically present at the next hearing to facilitate direct interaction with his legal counsel.
