At a recent briefing during the International Security Forum, Tatyana Dovgalenko, Director of the Department for Partnership with Africa at the Russian Foreign Ministry, voiced Russia's deep concerns regarding the mass deployment of international terrorists into Africa. She emphasized that international terrorism poses a significant threat to peace and security on the continent, particularly with the influx of militants from other conflict zones. Dovgalenko warned against allowing these groups to establish a new 'Caliphate 2.0' in Africa. The Sahel region, where countries friendly to Russia are located, is particularly vulnerable, with terrorist groups linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS operating there. Dovgalenko called for a united effort among regional forces to combat this common threat and welcomed the establishment of dialogue between the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Sahel Confederation. She underscored the importance of strengthening the combat capabilities of national armies and enhancing the effectiveness of the Confederation's combined forces in the fight against terrorism.
