The Bihar cabinet, led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, approved a ₹4,740 crore loan from the World Bank for the Bihar Urban Transformation Programme, which focuses on sustainable urban growth and infrastructure development across the state. The initiative includes plans for 11 new satellite townships in districts such as Patna, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur. To ensure organized development, land purchases and construction activities in designated zones will be paused until master plans are finalized, with Patna's plan expected by March 31, 2024. Additionally, the state will introduce toll taxes on highways to support road maintenance, with the Bihar road user fee rules expected to be notified soon. Other key approvals include the procurement of 400 electric buses at a cost of ₹517 crore and modernization of 75 industrial training institutes at ₹3,615 crore. The cabinet also decided to rename the under-construction medical college in Sitamarhi after Goddess Sita.
