Preliminary reports indicate that a failure in one of the upper stage engines prevented the rocket from achieving the necessary thrust to place the satellite into orbit for AST SpaceMobile's network, which aims to provide direct space-to-smartphone communication. Although the first stage of the rocket successfully landed on an ocean barge, the upper stage and satellite reentered the atmosphere on Monday. This launch was only the third flight for the New Glenn rocket, which is crucial for Blue Origin's plans to support NASA's Artemis program by delivering lunar landers. The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the incident, and no further launches will occur until the investigation is complete.
