In a significant drug bust near the Indo-Nepal border, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested Ranjeet Giri, a Bihar resident, in Maharajganj district, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday morning. The operation led to the seizure of over 327 kg of marijuana, valued at approximately ₹20 crore in the international market. Giri was intercepted while transporting the narcotics in a truck, having allegedly procured them from Nepal. Another accomplice managed to escape, and authorities are actively pursuing him. Following his arrest, Giri was handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau for further investigation. Officials suspect he was acting as a carrier for a larger drug trafficking network, and ongoing interrogations aim to uncover more details about the operation. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
