The prequel film 'John Rambo' is set to release in theaters on June 4, 2027, as announced by Lionsgate. This film will serve as an origin story for the iconic character, who first appeared in the 1982 action film 'First Blood,' starring Sylvester Stallone. The new film will feature Noah Centineo in the lead role, taking over from Stallone, alongside David Harbour portraying Major Trautman. Other cast members include Jason Tobin, Quincy Isaiah, Jefferson White, and Tayme Thapthimthong, with roles for Yao and James Franco still undisclosed. Directed by Jalmari Helander, the screenplay is penned by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. The film is set to debut just before several major releases, including Disney's 'Star Wars: Starfighter' and Sony's 'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.' Lionsgate's 2027 lineup also includes other notable films such as 'Day Drinker' and 'The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One.'
