The Maharashtra school education and sports department has issued a government resolution mandating 50 hours of annual training for all teachers, headmasters, deputy headmasters, and supervisors, in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This training will consist of 30 hours of offline instruction and 20 hours of online learning through approved platforms such as Diksha and Swayam. Teachers must complete monthly online modules and receive digital certificates. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Pune will design and implement the training, while District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) will manage execution at the district level. To prevent duplication, NGOs and private agencies are barred from conducting parallel training without SCERT approval. A unique “cafeteria approach” allows teachers to select training modules tailored to their needs. Additionally, monthly cluster-level sessions called “Shikshan Parishads” will promote peer learning and problem-solving. The initiative is aimed at enhancing teaching quality and ensuring continuous improvement in classroom practices, with strict monitoring through the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) to track attendance and performance.
