Recent statistics indicate that nearly 500 people suffered serious injuries in e-scooter crashes in the UK last year, highlighting ongoing road safety issues. The Royal Automobile Club's senior policy officer, Rod Dennis, noted that despite an overall decline in road fatalities—estimated at 1,556 in 2025, down 3% from 2024—serious injuries have increased, particularly among e-scooter users. The Department for Transport (DfT) reported 485 serious injuries and 10 fatalities among e-scooter riders, up from 428 serious injuries in 2024. Motorcycle fatalities also rose by 13%, while cyclist casualties increased by 10%. Experts stress that the government must enhance road safety measures to achieve its goal of reducing deaths and serious injuries by 65% by 2035. Despite some progress, the statistics reveal a troubling trend, with a significant proportion of casualties being male and young adults disproportionately affected.
