D K Shivakumar, Karnataka's Chief Minister-designate, has a colorful past that his teachers fondly remember. According to K P Gopalakrishna, the founder of the National Public School in Bengaluru where Shivakumar studied, he was a disciplined student but often mischievous. Gopalakrishna noted, 'I never call him DKShi or Shivakumar, I call him Shiva,' highlighting their enduring connection. While Shivakumar was an average academic performer, he excelled in sports, participating in various activities alongside numerous family members who attended the same school. His transfer to Carmel School after class 5, as he later recounted, was likely due to his naughty behavior. YSV Datta, another of Shivakumar's teachers, remarked on his early leadership skills, recalling how he would come to tuition classes with a large group of friends. Datta expressed pride in Shivakumar's achievements, stating, 'I wish him all the best and am proud that one of my students is becoming the chief minister of the state.' This journey from a 'naughty' schoolboy to a political leader reflects Shivakumar's growth and dedication.
