A day after Sanjeev Arora's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders rallied in his support. Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of AAP, stated that Arora chose jail over joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), highlighting the minister's character during challenging times. The arrest, which took place at Arora's residence in Chandigarh, followed searches at his family's corporate offices. AAP's Punjab affairs in-charge, Manish Sisodia, criticized the BJP for allegedly betraying the people of Punjab by targeting a dedicated leader with false charges. Other AAP leaders echoed this sentiment, asserting that the BJP is using central agencies to intimidate opposition figures as it struggles with political challenges. They condemned the ED's actions as part of a broader strategy to undermine democratically elected governments, particularly in Punjab, where AAP has gained significant popularity.
