YouTube TV, Google's live broadcast service available exclusively in the United States, has upgraded its Multiview feature, allowing users to customize their viewing experience by selecting the channels they want to watch simultaneously. Previously, users could only access suggested Multiview setups curated by the platform. This new customizable option is rolling out server-side, meaning it will appear on devices without requiring an app update. In addition to the Multiview enhancement, Google is experimenting with a new advertising format for YouTube live streams. The 'side-by-side' ads appear at the bottom of the screen and mute the audio of the live stream instead of interrupting it. This format aims to keep viewers engaged with the content while still displaying ads. Google is also testing this ad format on mobile devices, providing a new way for advertisers to reach audiences during live broadcasts.
