Shivakumar highlighted that the Karnataka Legislative Assembly has already passed a resolution against the initiative, which he reiterated during the discussions. He raised practical concerns about the synchronization of elections, questioning how varying election schedules across states could be aligned, especially in situations where a government might collapse midterm. In contrast, the BJP-JD(S) alliance expressed support for the proposal, with the Karnataka BJP submitting a memorandum advocating for its implementation nationwide.
