Nalanda Open University (NOU), located in Patna, is preparing to initiate its admission process for the 2026-27 academic session in the second week of this month. Vice-Chancellor Ravindra Kumar announced that the university will offer a variety of programs, including 24 postgraduate programs, 11 undergraduate programs, and several professional courses such as BCA, MCA, BLIS, and MLIS. Additionally, new postgraduate courses in English and Maithili will be introduced. The university is currently awaiting fresh recognition from the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) for some courses, which is crucial for timely enrollment. Kumar noted that the academic calendar is on track, with all 2025 examinations completed and results declared. The examinations for 2026 are set to commence in the last week of this month. To enhance accessibility for students, NOU has requested permission to open a branch office in Patna, which would alleviate the need for students from remote areas to travel to Nalanda for inquiries. Furthermore, study centers have been established at Patna College and Patna Science College to support local students.
