The Congress party is holding a meeting to deliberate on a potential alliance with actor-politician Vijay's party, the Tamil Nadu-based Tamil Maanila Congress (TVK). This consideration has sparked outrage from the DMK, with spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai calling Congress 'backstabbers' for contemplating a partnership that could undermine their established coalition. Annadurai emphasized that the Congress secured five seats in the recent elections due to its alliance with the DMK, suggesting they would have performed poorly otherwise. The TVK has emerged as a significant political force in Tamil Nadu, winning 108 seats, just 11 short of a majority.
