A tragic incident unfolded at K B Bhabha Hospital in Mumbai, where four resident doctors were allegedly assaulted by the relatives of Soni Harishankar Yadav, a 29-year-old woman who died following complications from an emergency Caesarean section. The woman was admitted on May 12, and after delivering a healthy baby boy, she developed severe complications, leading to her death on May 13 despite resuscitation efforts. Following her death, her relatives reportedly attacked the doctors on duty, with one doctor having her head banged against a wall and others being kicked and pushed. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation - Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (BMC-MARD) condemned the violence, calling for immediate legal action against the attackers and demanding enhanced security measures in hospitals. They emphasized that violence against healthcare workers undermines the healthcare system and affects patient care quality. The association has proposed measures including the deployment of trained security personnel, controlled entry for relatives in critical areas, and improved emergency response protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
