The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that spectators will be allowed at the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final on May 3 in Lahore after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the request from franchise owners. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the interior minister, shared this update on social media, noting that Sharif has 'graciously approved' the presence of fans. Initially, the PSL began without fans due to soaring fuel prices linked to the Iran war, with the government urging citizens to limit travel and work from home. In response, the PCB had reduced the number of PSL venues from six to two and barred spectators from matches in Lahore and Karachi. While Sharif expressed support for fan attendance, he emphasized the ongoing austerity measures aimed at minimizing fuel consumption. Currently, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United have qualified for the playoffs, while Lahore Qalandars, Hyderabad Kingmen, and Karachi Kings are competing for the final playoff spot.
