Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has granted permission for fans to attend the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final scheduled for May 3, 2026, in Lahore. This decision follows a request from franchise owners and marks a shift from the initial matches, which were played without spectators due to soaring fuel prices linked to the Iran war. The government had previously urged citizens to limit travel and work from home as part of austerity measures. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the interior minister, noted that while the prime minister is supportive of fan attendance, austerity remains a priority as the country works to reduce fuel consumption. The PSL has also cut the number of venues from six to two as part of these measures. Currently, teams such as Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United have qualified for the playoffs, with the defending champions Lahore Qalandars and others still vying for the final playoff spot.
