Baikuntha Nath Behera, an Assistant Executive Engineer with the Integrated Tribal Development Agency in Baliguda, Odisha, is facing scrutiny after the Odisha Vigilance unearthed assets valued at crores during recent raids. The operation, which took place at nine locations linked to Behera, revealed substantial financial holdings including over ₹2 crore in cash, five multi-storey buildings, and 13 high-value plots around Bhubaneswar. Behera, who joined government service in 1999 as a junior engineer, has seen his salary grow significantly over the years, culminating in his recent promotion to Assistant Executive Engineer in February 2026. The raids also uncovered 341 grams of gold jewellery and bank deposits exceeding ₹45 lakh. Vigilance officials confirmed the ongoing nature of the investigation, emphasizing that the full extent of Behera's assets is still being assessed. This case represents a major anti-corruption effort in Odisha, highlighting the need for accountability among public officials.
