Udhayanidhi Stalin, the youth wing secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the elected legislator from Chepauk-Thiruvellikeni constituency in Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as the leader of the DMK legislature party. This decision was made during a party meeting led by DMK president MK Stalin at the Anna Arivalayam headquarters in Chennai. Alongside Udhayanidhi, KN Nehru was elected as the deputy leader, while veteran leader EV Velu was appointed as the whip. Udhayanidhi, who secured 62,992 votes in the recent assembly elections, won by a margin of 7,140 votes against D Selvam from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Observers note that Udhayanidhi may face challenges in his new role due to his inexperience compared to seasoned politicians like Nehru and Velu.
