The incident took place on March 12 near Hathras Road Halt, where police discovered a charred body of an unidentified elderly man. Singh, who had been dismissed from the police force due to prior criminal activities, reportedly placed his own identity card and belongings near the body to mislead investigators into believing he had died. Following a thorough investigation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Hathras City arrested Singh on April 14. Authorities noted that Singh has a long history of criminal offenses, including kidnapping, murder, robbery, and fraud, across several districts in Uttar Pradesh.
