The arrest occurred during an investigation into the smuggling activities of a local resident, Shyam Babu, whose mobile data revealed consistent communication with Yadav. The constable is accused of receiving payments for facilitating smuggling operations, including advice on safe routes for crossing district borders. Since the beginning of 2023, police in Chandauli have registered 46 cases related to cattle smuggling and have seized 345 cattle heads and 55 vehicles associated with these activities. In 2025, the district recorded 162 cases against 410 individuals, leading to the recovery of 1,297 cattle heads and 90 kg of beef. Authorities are taking preventive measures under the Uttar Pradesh Goonda Act against those involved in these illegal activities.
