The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) quickly addressed the issue, assuring that the structure is safe and that the visible gap is merely superficial. In a significant development, the MMRDA has acquired a 16,762 sqm land parcel for the Laxmi Nagar station in Vikhroli, which had faced delays for six years. This acquisition marks the completion of land procurement for the Metro Line 4 corridor, which spans 32.32 km and includes 30 stations. The initial stretch from Gaimukh to Cadbury Junction is ready for trial runs, with the entire corridor expected to enhance commuting efficiency by reducing travel time between Thane and Mumbai by 50-75%. The expansion of the Metro network is set to accelerate in 2026, with multiple corridors expected to become operational, further strengthening public transport options in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
