The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a strict directive requiring all housing societies with over 100 flats to establish their own sewage treatment plants (STPs) to comply with the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations. Shreenath Bhimale, chairman of the PMC standing committee, emphasized the importance of maintaining existing STPs to ensure they operate effectively. In a related decision, the committee addressed property tax regulations for illegal homes, opting to stop imposing triple tax fines on properties under 1,000 square feet, instead charging only the standard tax. Furthermore, the PMC has approved funding of ₹3.24 crore (approximately $390,000 USD) for the renovation of the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaja statue located in Deccan.
