The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched fresh search operations at four premises associated with Sanjeev Arora, the Punjab Industry Minister, as part of an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The raids are taking place in Chandigarh and the Delhi-NCR region, including Arora's official ministerial residence. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has publicly condemned these actions, claiming they reflect the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) misuse of central agencies for political purposes. Mann noted that this is the third time in a year that the ED has targeted Arora, with the latest raid occurring just a month after the previous one, yet no incriminating evidence has been found. In April, the ED had also conducted searches under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) related to Arora. The Ludhiana West MLA, who previously faced scrutiny in 2024 for a money laundering case involving the conversion of industrial land for residential projects, has expressed confidence in his innocence and his commitment to cooperate with the investigation.
