The Census 2027 in Uttar Pradesh will commence with a self-enumeration phase from May 7 to 21, followed by house listing activities from May 22 to June 20. The state has created 3.89 lakh house listing blocks (HLBs) to streamline data collection, with each block containing about 200 to 300 houses. Director of Census Operations, Sheetal Verma, emphasized that this will be the first digital census in India, featuring mobile data collection and real-time monitoring through the Census Management & Monitoring System (CMMS) portal. A total of 5.47 lakh personnel, including 4.5 lakh enumerators and 85,000 supervisors, are being deployed for the census work. The self-enumeration process allows residents to submit household information online in 16 languages, ensuring comprehensive data on housing conditions and amenities. The census will also freeze all administrative units in the state from December 31, 2025, to March 31, 2027, to maintain consistency during the enumeration process.
