As West Bengal conducts its second and final phase of polling, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is concentrating its efforts on the Bhabanipur constituency, the stronghold of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Party sources express optimism about winning here, citing a significant population of Marwari and Gujarati voters. The BJP is also targeting key regions such as North 24 Parganas and Nadia, hoping to secure at least 40 of the 108 seats in the Bengal Presidency. In the previous election, the All India Trinamool Congress won 123 seats in this phase, while the BJP managed only 18. Concerns over voter fatigue and anti-incumbency are central to the BJP's strategy, with leaders suggesting that Banerjee's leadership may contribute to the Trinamool Congress's potential defeat. The electoral landscape has been further complicated by the removal of 47,111 voters from the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), raising questions about voter representation. The BJP anticipates strong performances in traditionally Trinamool strongholds, particularly in North Bengal and the Junglemahal region.
