Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a significant change in wheat procurement policies, allowing farmers to sell their wheat at government procurement centres without needing to register online. This decision comes as many farmers faced challenges due to the mandatory registration process, which hindered their ability to sell their crops. As of April 20, over 2.38 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have been procured from more than 42,000 farmers. The state has set up over 5,400 procurement centres to facilitate this process. In light of the extreme heat, the Chief Minister has directed that adequate arrangements, including drinking water, fans, and shade, be provided at these centres to ensure farmers' comfort and convenience during the selling process.
