Morrisons, a major UK supermarket chain, is set to reintroduce free breakfasts for children during the May half-term, running from May 25 to May 31, 2023. This initiative allows kids to enjoy either Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies with their choice of dairy or non-dairy milk, available at any Morrisons Café. The program aims to alleviate some financial pressure on families during the school holidays, as noted by Matt Khan, the senior trader for Morrisons Café, who emphasized the importance of providing families a chance to enjoy a balanced breakfast together. This initiative builds on Morrisons' long-term collaboration with Kellogg's, which has supported school breakfast programs since 1998. Additionally, Morrisons offers a free kids’ meal with any adult main meal costing over £5, available every day for children under 16. On another note, Morrisons announced that a proposed pay deal for its supermarket and manufacturing staff received overwhelming support, with 91.87% of voters in favor. Eligible hourly paid employees will receive a one-off payment ranging from £25 to £175 based on their contractual hours, alongside a recent pay increase to £12.71 per hour, effective March 30, 2026.
