The Jammu and Kashmir police have made significant strides in their '100 Days of Drug-Free J&K' initiative, registering over 170 First Information Reports (FIRs) and arresting hundreds of individuals in just 50 days. Launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, this campaign aims to combat drug abuse across the Union Territory. Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh highlighted that this number is nearly equivalent to the total FIRs registered in an entire year. The police have reported a 50-60% reduction in drug-related activities in Jammu, alongside the demolition of 11 illegal structures associated with drug trafficking. Additionally, properties worth around ₹2 crore have been attached under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The initiative has received strong support from various agencies and the public, as authorities work to counter challenges posed by drone drops, which are seen as a conspiracy linked to Pakistan. This campaign not only focuses on enforcement but also aims to enhance public outreach and awareness regarding drug abuse.
