Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh State Congress Committee, has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code in Mahoba district following controversial remarks aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accusations of obstructing public order. The police action was initiated after a video surfaced on social media showing Rai leading a gathering that allegedly blocked a public road and disrupted government work. Assistant Superintendent of Police Vandana Singh confirmed that the FIR was filed based on a complaint from Advocate Neeraj Rawat, who criticized the Congress party's political culture. The FIR targets not only Rai but also 25 to 30 of his supporters, including Brijraj Ahirwar, the outgoing Secretary of the Congress Committee. In response, BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan condemned Rai's comments as 'inexcusable and unforgivable,' attributing the behavior to a decline in standards under Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Kesavan emphasized that such remarks reflect poorly on the party and warned that the public is observing these developments closely.
