Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the two Palkhi Marg projects, which connect Pune to Pandharpur, are expected to be completed within the next six months. These projects are designed to enhance infrastructure for the annual pilgrimage, which sees lakhs of warkaris traveling to Pandharpur. The Sant Dnyaneshwar Palkhi Marg NH-965 spans 234 km through Pune, Satara, and Solapur districts, with a redevelopment cost of ₹7,625 crore. Currently, 80% of the work on both routes is complete, with significant progress on various packages. Gadkari emphasized the inclusion of pedestrian lanes, railway overbridges, and flyovers to facilitate smoother travel. Additional works announced include a 2-km flyover at Jejuri, a bridge over the Nira river, and a 48-km road from Tembhurni to Pandharpur, among others. The Sant Tukaram Palkhi Marg NH-965G, 130 km long, is also undergoing redevelopment at a cost of ₹4,416 crore. Gadkari noted that these roads will significantly contribute to the economic development of the region.
