The Chhattisgarh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, approved the Urban Gas Distribution Policy 2026 on Wednesday, aiming to enhance the supply of piped natural gas across urban areas in the state. This policy is designed to provide a cleaner and more affordable fuel alternative to LPG cylinders, improving convenience for consumers and promoting the use of cleaner energy. The initiative is expected to diversify fuel options, accelerate the development of gas pipeline infrastructure, attract investment, and generate employment opportunities in the sector. Additionally, the cabinet approved the allotment of five acres of land to the District Cricket Association in Rajnandgaon for the construction of a modern sports ground and cricket academy. Financial assistance of approximately ₹11.98 crore (about $1.4 million USD) was also approved for 6,809 individuals and institutions from the chief minister’s discretionary grant fund to provide immediate relief and strengthen social support measures.
