On Monday, a special TADA court in Jamnagar, Gujarat, convicted 12 individuals in a case related to a 1993 arms landing conspiracy linked to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The conspiracy was aimed at avenging the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, 1992, by smuggling a large cache of weapons and explosives into India from Pakistan. The court sentenced 10 individuals to five years of rigorous imprisonment and two to seven years. The case, which has been under investigation for nearly 33 years, revealed that the conspiracy was orchestrated from Ibrahim's residence in Dubai, involving the Pakistani military and marine security. The trial began in 2018, with 46 accused initially, of whom 12 were convicted and 17 acquitted. The investigation recovered several weapons, including hand grenades and AK-series rifles, and involved the examination of 63 witnesses.
